Your First Visit

If you're a first-time visitor at Jimmerson Chiropractic, you'll need to give us some information about your background, medical history and the nature of your condition. This is so that we can provide the best possible care, tailored to your specific circumstances.

A bit of paperwork

We will need you to fill out new patient forms that provide general information about you and your current condition/ complaints. This can be done in our office using paper forms, or you can access our online patient intake forms and submit them electronically before you arrive at our office! Click on the link to be directed to our online patient intake forms. After you submit the intake form online, our office will be contactng you to schedule and appointment

Our staff is happy to assist you with the paperwork if needed.

Consultation
During your first consultation with the doctor, you'll discuss any health-related issues and concerns. You will also learn about treatment options. This can be a separate visit but most often, it is included in the initial visit and treatment.

History and examination
In order to pinpoint the problem, the doctor will ask you a number of questions related to your condition. A variety of targeted tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

X-rays
Your specific condition may require x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in assessing the most effective treatment plan for you. This is decided on a case by case basis and the doctor will inform you on your first visit if you need x-rays.  We do not take x-rays in our office, we refer to a nearby imaging centre.

Same-day treatment
Patients will generally undergo their first treatment on their first visit after the examination. This typically will include spinal or extra-spinal adjustments and physical therapy.

Home instructions
Before leaving, you might be given instructions on certain home care items, stretches, or exercises to be conducted between visits. This may include ice or heat applications, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises.

Scheduling the next appointment

Regular treatment is essential to the process. We work our treatments around your schedule. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days of their initial visit as a follow up to care and address any lingering issues. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed at this time.
